Welcome to my diecast collection!
Welcome to my diecast collection!
One rainy Sunday afternoon while browsing the Internet, pondering why I succumbed to the monotony of the Monday to Saturday afternoon, week in week out, I saw a Corgi Morris Minor Traveller on Ebay, with 5 minutes remaining and no bids. Scratching my head at why no one had bid, I stuck a very small bid on.... and won! My very first Ebay bid and my first 1:43 collectors diecast piece. That, was going on 25 years ago
You know that feeling when you sit & think 'I wonder if anyone made one of those in miniature' Oh dear, the obsession had taken hold. Didn't help being a 'car-nut' & separating a Mark II Phase III from a Mark III Phase I, & knowing what model had the sports bumper or the side rubbing strips from '97 1/2 on', is in the blood, so finding a gem to complete that model line up became a goal. Then came the other brands, learning, identifying who made what and what was worth the good money, and what was toys dressed as collectables. Then it was about getting just about every car you either previously owned, wanted to own growing up, then the cars you had driven as part of the day job, but strictly keeping to UK sold models only, that should keep the collection smaller & managable ..... yeah like that was going to last.
Rally cars? Ooh yeah love a bit of rallying, let's collect them, and all the different liveries would be really cool & the historical rally cars.... hey what about displaying then in a cabinet in brand order, just like a showroom.
Oh, now I can't fit them all in, I know lets just regimentally have them lined up like a used car pitch.... by brand, or era, oh or even by country of manufacture. Oh, oh I'm gonna need to buy bigger units, (thanks Lidl... and Ikea)
Then it was American muscle, the Japanese car scene, (BTW they're not easy to find in Europe). Ah remember that car in The Sweeney... I wonder if they made that car in The Professionals, or Basil Fawlty's Austin, oh what about the A Team Van, the Dukes of Hazzard.... hey, what what about movie 'hero' cars, those ones I watched in that YouTube video.....
Oops, that's the room full, and all the 1:43 rally cars are now in boxes in the attic after the last revamp.... yeah,.... as I say 'obsession', Note to self: Stay away from Ebay especially after one too many 'drinkies'
If any of the above sounds familiar, just start clicking below.... oh and I accept no responsibility for 'enabling' and I apologise to the 'significant others' for the loss of the spare room.

Where did all the info come from?
The best bit about todays internet is that so many different people in different places on the world can share their passion from the comfort of their own armchair.
Please do take some time to browse our reference library, which has links back to the source, and maybe even places to buy those models!

What else am I up to?
If you find my obsession of interest to you, you may wish to join me in my other obsession too, papercrafting. I found the whole hobby, (along with collecting diecast of course), a soothing element to help with mindfulness, and to give something back, & to help those who have limited tech skills I have created The Crafting Directory, including FREE Digital Stamps, as well as tech tips and tricks. I also assist The Crafty Witches with their Social Media presences and their technical support in their Information & Inspiration Cauldron
